A walkway on top of the O2 in North Greenwich is to open next month.
Previously dubbed The Skywalk and apparently now rebranded as ‘Up at The O2″, the attraction will see climbers kitted out with harnesses and safety gear and led on a 90-minute trip up and over the dome, where they’ll enjoy “spectacular 360 degree views of London from our viewing platform in the centre”.
Unlike the nearby cable car, work on Up at The O2 has mostly flown under the radar of publicity and media coverage, allowing them to beat their dangle-based rival to those all important tourist pounds. There’s a sneak peek at how it looks in this aerial image of the O2 by Jason Hawkes.
Tickets go on sale for O2 customers from today, priced at £22, and for the general public from 30 May.

Visitors will be able to climb over the roof of The O2 when a new attraction opens next month.
Up at The O2 will take people on a guided 90-minute walk over the roof of The O2, owned and operated by AEG, with a stop at a viewing platform in the centre.
The attraction will open on June 21 and has been designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, who designed The O2.
Priority tickets are on sale to O2 customers from today and to the general public from May 30.
Visitors to Up at The O2 will start at Base Camp, a briefing area where they will be kitted up in jumpsuits, shoes and safety harnesses, before taking the stairs or a lift up to the base of the tent ready to start their climb.
They will then be taken by trained guides in groups of 30 along a tensile fabric walkway suspended 53m above ground level to a viewing platform in the centre of The O2’s roof, before being brought back down.
The observation platform will enable climbers to take in 360 degree views of the capital and landmarks including the Olympic Park, Thames Barrier, The Shard and Canary Wharf.
Alistair Wood, senior vice president for real estate for AEG Europe, said: “Up at The O2 is not only an exciting, new landmark attraction for London but it also marks the fifth birthday of The O2 in style.
“Representing a significant investment for AEG, the realisation of Up at The O2 is a demonstration of our continued commitment to developing and diversifying The O2 – already the world’s most successful music and entertainment venue.
“We believe that Up at The O2 will increase daytime visitation to The O2 and appeal not only to the venue’s existing visitors but also bring new custom.”
The attraction, which has been inspired by similar climbs at places including the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia, is suitable for those aged 10 and over and at least 1.2m tall. Accessible tours for people with disabilities, including wheelchair users, are planned.
Tickets cost £22 for adults and children, and O2 customers can get 15 per cent off with Priority Moments.
Sally Cowdry, marketing and consumer director for O2 in the UK, said: “The O2 is a world class venue and our partnership with AEG is truly a benchmark for success.
“Up at The O2 is the result of our shared passion to give everyone who walks into the venue, whether they’re O2 customers or not, a fantastic experience. We’re proud to play a part in such an exciting year for London and launch something truly fresh, unique and exciting.”
