3G or 4G? Which is your preference - CIOL Network

BANGALORE, INDIA: Even as Airtel bought stakes in Qualcomm to establish its broadband leadership in both 3G and 4G services, there has been an increased effort by other telecom companies to push for 3G.

While Idea slashed the 3G prices by 70 percent, Reliance Communications has announced a set of initiatives to make 3G data usage affordable for all usage segments.

Reliance's Netconnect 3G data plan offers 1 GB of 3G data for Rs..250 per month and 2 GB for Rs.. 450 per month while Idea's Hero-25 offers 100 MB data with a validity period of three days, for Rs..25.

Reliance's My Best Plan is ideal for a first time user who is not sure of his usage with the key benefit being “No bill shock” by billing upto 6 GB 3G data for Rs..1250 and unlimited usage at no cost beyond 6 GB of usage. Idea's Rs..599 plan gives prepaid 3G users 2 GB of data with a validity of 60 days. Similarly, a Rs..850 plan comes with 60 days validity and a Rs..1250 plan gives users 4GB of 3G data for 90 days.

Going by the above details, it seems Reliance and Idea are aggressively pursuing their 3G plans to defuse the hype around Airtel's 4G launch.

Reliance Communications launches 3G data plans in the country - Economic Times

Reliance Communications, India's fully integrated telecommunications service provider in mobile broadband with mobile broadband footprint in over 1,200 towns, on Friday announced a set of initiatives to make 3G data usage affordable for all usage segments.

Netconnect is one of the most recognized and preferred brand in the mobile broadband space in India.

The new Netconnect 3G data plans now available across all 13 Reliance 3G circles, including Metros (Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata) offer 1 GB 3G data for Rs. 250 per month and 2 GB of 3G data for Rs. 450 per month.

The My Best Plan is a highly customer friendly with its innovative and usage adaptive feature i.e. it generates the lowest bill for any data usage by the customer.

The plan is ideal for a first time user who is not sure of his usage with the key benefit is "No bill shock" by billing upto 6 GB 3G data for Rs. 1250 and unlimited usage at no cost beyond 6 GB of usage.

With this plan, if the customer uses 2.5GB, the customer gets billed for Rs 250 as rental and Rs 300 extra usage (at Rs 0.2/MB for 1.5 GB)-a total bill of Rs 550. On a 1GB plan from any other operator, this customer would have been billed for Rs 250 as rental and Rs 4,500 for extra usage (at Rs 3/MB for 1.5 GB) - a total bill of Rs. 4750.
