Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 Devices to Boast Lumia 800/900 Looks - Softpedia

Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 Devices to Boast Lumia 800/900 Looks - Softpedia
Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is gearing up for the release of Windows Phone 8 devices later this year, recent reports suggest.

Given the fact that Nokia is currently the largest maker of Windows Phone devices, that does not come too much as a surprise, yet details on the smartphones that will be released with the upcoming platform on board have yet to surface.

In the meantime, however, we learn that the handset vendor is planning on packing them with the same form factor as on Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 devices.

The company introduced the design style with its MeeGo-powered Nokia N9, and it registered increased success with it.

No official info on the upcoming Windows Phone 8 smartphones from the company has been unveiled, yet WPDownUnder claims that devices are already being tested in Australia, and that they would indeed sport the same looks as the aforementioned existing smartphones.

Preview units have already been delivered to testers in the country, and one of them is said to be almost identical with the existing flagship Lumia handset.

However, it seems that only the outer design might be kept in the upcoming Windows Phone 8 products from Nokia, while the internal circuitry would be greatly enhanced.

No further details on these smartphones have been unveiled so far, but Microsoft did confirm that it would offer support for better hardware in the forthcoming platform.

In addition to Nokia, leading handset vendors HTC and Samsung are also said to have sent Windows Phone 8 devices to Australia for testing.

Samsung has already confirmed that it would launch new smartphones running under Microsoft’s next-gen mobile platform this year, and it makes perfect sense for it to already be testing them in various markets around the world, to ensure that they will be ready for release later this year.

Some of the recent reports on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 platform suggested that it might arrive on existing devices as well, yet the software giant hasn’t made a formal announcement on this until now.

Nokia Lumia 900 Batman edition arriving 'very shortly' - Know Your Mobile

The Nokia Lumia 900 will soon follow in the footsteps of the Lumia 800 as a Batman edition is reportedly on the way.

The Batman-themed Lumia 900, which will go on sale in the UK 'very shortly', according to Pocket-Lint, comes with an etched Batman logo on the back of the device.

There's been no confirmation from Nokia on whether the Batman edition will have the same custom box, the Dark Knight app and Live Tile or any preloaded wallpapers of the caped crusader as the Lumia 800 version, but we have a sneaking suspicion it will.

Although tight-lipped on numbers - there were only 40 made of the Lumia 800 Batman edition, the last of which was given away by Nokia at one of its own events - we get the feeling you will need to strike quickly.

The Batman edition Lumia 900 is expected to arrive in the UK, Germany, France and other European countries in the next few weeks.

For the uninitiated, the Lumia 900 is a Windows Phone device with a 4.3-inch screen, 8-megapixel camera and a Carl Zeiss lens, and comes equipped with a range of Nokia exclusive apps such as its SatNav software, Nokia Drive.

Nokia Lumia 900 goes all batty with Batman model - UberGizmo (blog)

Do you fancy jumping aboard the Windows Phone bandwagon, but do not really have any idea on where you would want to start? Nokia has churned out some pretty good Windows Phone powered devices recently, and if you are interested in what the Finnish smartphone manufacturer is offering currently, then you might want to consider forking out some money to pick up a limited edition of the Nokia Lumia 900 in the UK. This will be a Batman edition model which is similar to the limited edition Batman Nokia Lumia 800 that came out in the past, featuring an all black color (but of course) in addition to having the Batman logo laser etched into the polycarbonate body.

Nokia has not disclosed the limited availability of this special edition phone, but it is suspected that there will not be too many of these puppies hanging around retail stores, so if you want to get hold of one of these puppies, sooner rather than later would be the right way to go. This limited edition model will hit the UK, Germany, France and a bunch of the other European destinations in due time. I wonder if it will be launched in conjunction with the Batman: The Dark Knight Rises’ release?
