Samsung Pre-orders reach nine million
According to earlier reports in IBTimes UK, Samsung Electronics has received nine million pre-orders for the Galaxy S3 worldwide. The report contains information about 290 carriers in 145 carriers. Probably, the Korean giant will sell as many as Galaxy S3 units on the first day as the Galaxy S2 smartphones in six months. Reports suggest that Samsung's factories are working to full capacity to fulfil the massive demand to churn out five million units of the Galaxy S3 a month.
"If pre-order numbers are anything to go by, there's little doubt that Samsung's latest flagship smartphone will result in very strong quarter revenues for the South Korean company, as well as making it the undisputed king of Android handsets by shipping volume, and pre-order interest," elaborates TechSpot.
Implementation of Extra-ordinary technology
Samsung has introduced striking features in the new Galaxy S smartphone. Starting with Smart Stay feature, it lets the phone to stay awake when it senses that a user is looking at it. The technology uses the front-facing camera to optimise user experience. The camera will detect the eye movement of the user so that the device will know if the user is looking at the screen or not. The functioning involves a small icon at the top of the display according to News Broadcast. By utilising this technology, the device will have the ability to dim the screen automatically if the user does not view the content on the display. Thereby, it improves the battery life too. S Voice has been the most talked feature of Galaxy S3 which is expected to rival Apple's Siri. It could be a clear competitor to Siri. The new voice technology allows users to control their handset with voice. S Voice will have the ability to respond to spoken commands like "wake up" if the screen is turned off or "snooze" for an alarm.
Various carriers will offer Galaxy S3
In the UK, the major telecom firms will carry the Galaxy S3 which include O2, Vodafone, Three, T-Mobile and Orange. According to earlier reports in IBTimes UK, Vodafone will be the first carrier in the UK to sell the device. According to G4 Games, the US variants are expected to be sold by four major carriers which include AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. The Japanese variant of the Galaxy S3 has been officially unveiled by NTT Docomo, which packs 2GB of RAM and powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
Support to 42Mbps DC-HSPA Network
Recently, the UK carrier O2 has begun rolling out the 42Mbps variant of DC-HSPA which is the fastest variant of 3G network. The Korean giant has confirmed that the UK model of Galaxy S3 will offer 42Mbps DC-HSPA. It is twice the speed of HSPA+ which is currently being used in the UK. Probably, users may prefer the device that will have a faster speed.
The PenTile display will offer longevity
According to earlier reports in IBTimes UK, Samsung's Philip Berne explanation about using PenTile layout suggests that it will reportedly offer durability and longevity. PenTile layout has already been used in Galaxy Nexus, while the latest layout has been improved incorporating smaller gaps in its sub-pixel matrix which results in reduced fringing effects of the PenTile layout in the Galaxy S3.

Google completes purchase of Motorola Mobility - BBC News
Google's $12.5bn (£7.9bn) purchase of US phone maker Motorola Mobility has been completed days after it received approval from the Chinese government.
Chinese authorities said Google must keep its mobile software, Android, free for other device makers for up to five years.
The acquisition is Google's biggest to date.
The internet search giant has also named a new management team for the phone handset maker.
Motorola is a leading manufacturer of smartphones and other devices.
Google's takeover of the business allows it to move into the manufacturing of phones and tablet computers for the first time.
HistoryGoogle's chief executive, Larry Page, said in a blog post that there were people using devices now who may never use a desktop machine: "The phones in our pockets have become supercomputers that are changing the way we live. It's now possible to do things we used to think were magic, or only possible on Star Trek- like get directions right from where we are standing; watch a video on YouTube; or take a picture and share the moment instantly with friends."
He added that Motorola had a long history in technological development: "Motorola is a great American tech company that has driven the mobile revolution, with a track record of over 80 years of innovation, including the creation of the first cell phone."
He said he saw the new business producing "the next generation of mobile devices that will improve lives for years to come".
The purchase gives Google access to more than 17,000 of the company's valuable patents.
The Chinese authorities cleared the deal on condition that Google keeps its mobile software, Android, free for other device makers for up to five years.
The European Commission also approved the deal, but it did not conclude there was an issue with Android, saying it was unlikely that Google would restrict the use of Android solely to Motorola, which is a minor player in the European Economic Area.
US approval has also been granted.
Road show for Flag Telecom listing next week: Sources - MoneyControl.com
The road show for Reliance Communications -controlled FLAG Telecom’s Rs 5,000-6,000 crore Singapore listing is likely to begin next week, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting sources.
In March of this year, FLAG Telecom has filed a prospectus in the Singapore Stock Exchange to list and divest 75% stake in the submarine cables business for USD 1.25-1.5 billion (Rs 6,250-7,500 crore).
The money being raised by the Anil Ambani group company will be used to reduce the debt on Reliance Communication's books. The telecom company has a total debt of Rs 35,000 crore.
The bankers for the issue include Deutsche Bank, DBS of Singapore, Standard Chartered and Industrial & Commercial Bank of China.
The banking sources say the transaction is expected to close in June, 2012.
FLAG's submarine assets and business will continue to be controlled by the existing management, ensuring continuity in operations, according to international banking sources involved with the prospectus.
Bankers say FLAG will be listed under the business trust structure. The company is a part of Reliance Globalcomm, which is 100% owned by RComm. After the divestment, RComm will continue to hold the remaining 25% equity stake.
FLAG was acquired in 2001 by Anil Ambani for USD 211 million. It controls five undersea cable networks, which cover over 65,000 kilometers. Talk of the FLAG listing has been doing the rounds since 2008, but the plan had to be shelved due to the economic crisis.
A spokesperson of Reliance Communications, however, declined to comment on the issue.
Samsung Galaxy S3's top five smartphone rivals - v3.co.uk
Ahead of the launch of the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3 on 30 May, V3 takes a look at which rival device might be able to stop the S3 claiming the crown as 2012's top smartphone, breaking down what we expect from the mobile heavy hitters.
5) The LG Optimus 4X HD
While many would write off the device just because it sports an LG logo, as noted in our Mobile World Congress (MWC) hands on, the LG Optimus 4X HD is an arresting device.
The phone packs a powerful Nvidia 1.5GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor backed up by 1GB of RAM.

Visually the device houses a massive 4.7in 1280x720 touchscreen, that boasts IPS technology - meaning it should provide excellent viewing angles and perform better in sunlit conditions.
Having had our hands on the device when it was unveiled, we were really impressed with its screen, with it remaining clear and crisp even in the LG MWC stand's dim, low light conditions.
The device will be powered by Google's latest 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Android version and will feature 16GB of internal storage. The unit will also sport an 8MP rear-facing camera backed up by a 1.3MP front-facing unit and be powered by a sizeable 2150mAh battery.
Confirmed for release in the UK in June at a semi-affordable £480 SIM-free price, the LG Optimus 4X HD will be £20 cheaper than the Galaxy S3 and could potentially offer a valid alternative to Samsung's latest flagship handset.
4) The HTC One X
HTC was the first to market when it came to quad-core processors in a smartphone, releasing its One X handset in April.
As noted in our full written review, the One X is a beautiful device, packing a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, backed up by 1GB of RAM.
We were particularly impressed by the device's 8MP rear-facing camera and 4.7in 1280x720 touchscreen. In our time with the device the Super LCD screen remained pleasing to the eye, with its 312ppi resolution ensuring the display remained crisp and vibrant even in the most unflattering lighting conditions.

The One X's camera is equally impressive, in our mind being one of the finest currently on the market. In terms of dimensions, the One X is fairly similar to the S3 measuring in at 134x70x8.9mm and weighing 130g. The S3 by comparison measures in at 137x71x8.6mm and weighs 133g.
Retailing for the same £500 sim-free as the Galaxy S3 and targeting the same plus-sized market, the One X may have already taken a chunk of Samsung's potential market. This trend could potentially continue if the S3 launches with a similar game-breaking flaw like the Galaxy Nexus's volume drop bug.
Google closes on Motorola Mobility acquisition - Yahoo Finance
NEW YORK (AP) -- Google says it has completed its acquisition of phone maker Motorola Mobility and it has appointed a Google executive as the new CEO of the business.
Google says Dennis Woodside, previously president of Google's Americas region, is Motorola's new CEO. Departing CEO Sanjay Jha will help to ensure a smooth transition.
Google Inc. and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. announced the $12.5 billion deal last summer, expecting it would close late last year or early this year.
Approval from Chinese regulators was slow in coming. On Saturday, China approved the deal, on condition that Google Inc.'s Android software would remain free for other phone makers for at least five years.
Google is buying Motorola, a pioneer in the cellphone industry, to prop up its patent portfolio and help defend phone makers who use Android against litigation.
Samsung confirms Galaxy S3 chassis is made of classy stuff - Techradar.com
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S3 in fact sports a more complex polycarbonate chassis, not a 'standard' plastic body.
We reported in our hands on Samsung Galaxy S3 review that the handset had a brushed plastic case, but this didn't deter Mobile Devices Editor Gareth, who said "it's got a lovely back" – just check out the video at the bottom of this article.
Samsung however has now confirmed to PhoneArena that the Galaxy S3 has a polycarbonate body, saying: "Polycarbonate is used on the battery cover. Polycarbonate is lightweight, solid and is already being widely used in the mobile industry.
Polycarbonate, my dear Watson
"It was chosen as the best material to represent the minimal organic design of Galaxy S3. Using three layers of high quality, pure and clear polycarbonate, not only is the phone's aesthetic elevated, but the durability and scratch resistance is maximized."
The good news is the Samsung Galaxy S3 should be tougher than its predecessor the Galaxy S2, which sported a plastic case.
We hope to get the Samsung Galaxy S3 in soon, so we can put it through our full, in-depth review process and possibly a stress test on that polycarbonate frame - although we'll struggle to bring ourselves to harm such a popular handset.
Check out our hands on Samsung Galaxy S3 review video below - complete with the "lovely back" quote we promised you!

Google names new Motorola Mobility CEO - msnbc.com
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Google Inc completed its $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc and named a new chief executive for the cellphone maker, who vowed to focus on "fewer, bigger bets."
Google, which made the deal to gain access to Motorola's vast trove of technology patents, said on Tuesday that Motorola Chief Executive Sanjay Jha has stepped down and has been succeeded by Dennis Woodside, former president of Google's Americas region.
Woodside oversaw planning for the Motorola integration, according to Google. Jha will be retained to help manage a transition period.
The deal closing came just days after the companies won approval for the acquisition from the Chinese government. European and U.S. regulators approved the deal in February.
To gain approval in China, Google said the company promised to keep its Android mobile phone software open and free for at least five years and agreed to charge fair and reasonable fees for technology licenses.
Motorola spokeswoman Jennifer Erickson said Woodside's "fewer, bigger bets" would mean a simpler strategy: Fewer but bigger phone launches for Motorola Mobility, which will be an independent subsidiary of Google.
Woodside hired a slew of outside executives to run the company, including Vanessa Wittman, former chief financial officer of Marsh & McLennan Cos Inc, as CFO of Motorola Mobility.
Mark Randall, the former supply chain vice president at Kindle maker Amazon.com Inc, was appointed as the mobile unit's new head of supply chain.
The company will retain some Motorola executives, including Iqbal Arshad as head of product development, and Dan Moloney as head of the set-top box business.

Google completes $12.5bn deal for Motorola Mobility - Daily Telegraph
The completion follows approval by Chinese, US and European regulators.
Conditions from China's Ministry of Commerce included Google keeping its Android software for gadgets such as smartphones and tablet computers free and open for at least five years.
Regulators in the US and elsewhere have stressed that they will be watching to make sure that the Mountain View, California-based company does not use its acquisition of Motorola Mobility to obtain unfair advantage in the market.
Apple and South Korea's Samsung, whose devices are powered by Google's Android software, are currently involved in lengthy and costly patent fights being waged on several continents.
In announcing the Motorola Mobility acquisition in August, Mr Page said it will "enable us to better protect Android from anti-competitive threats from Microsoft, Apple and other companies."
Motorola Mobility was created in 2011 when US-based Motorola split the company into a mobile devices unit and a government and public safety division known as Motorola Solutions.
