Motorola Motosmart - big brand £100 smartphone - Expert Reviews

Motosmart by Motorola is an Android handset that comes with OS 2.3 and a 3.5in touchscreen. Motorola is targeting it toward first-time smartphone buyers. Motosmart's MotoSwitch 2.0 interface has a built in 'beginner's guide' which walks users through initial smartphone setup.

MotoSwitch 2.0 also introduces new features called 'Social Graph' and 'Activity Graph' which aim to cut down navigation around the phone's menus, with the user's most commonly-used contacts and apps accumulating on the phone's home screen over time.

A 1,400mAh battery will enable 3G users to talk for up to six hours continuously. All of the available Google mobile services are provided, and Adobe Flash Player is supported and downloadable from Google Play.

The £100 pay-as-you-go option is comparatively inexpensive, though the specifications of Motosmart are consistent with the phone's low price. It has only 512MB of storage space, so purchasing a microSD card might become necessary. The phone comes with a 3-megapixel camera without a flash, and also no front-facing camera.

Motosmart should be available from T-Mobile at the end of July and Carphone Warehouse at the beginning of August.
